Stories of First World War women through song.

Award winning singer, songwriter and musician Louise Jordan tells the stories of inspirational women who challenged expectations. From the woman who dressed as a soldier on the Western Front to the women football players banned by the FA, the ambulance drivers running the gauntlet of enemy fire in Flanders and the so-called ‘surplus million’ single women. Inspirational women, working in a time of conflict, leaving a legacy.

Doors open 7.15 for 7.45 performance; you are invited to wear an early 20th century hat or costume. Themed floor singers welcomed (maximum 5 minutes per item).

John Kirkpatrick is a superb singer, great writer, fine dancer & the best English squeezer bar none. He is one of the great solo acts on the folk scene & has played with the Albions, Steeleye Span, Brass Monkey, Band of Hope & many more.

During the day John leads a workshop for any instrument entitled 'The Music Behind The Music'. On Sunday he leads an all-day vocal harmony workshop.

John Kirkpatrick has two 45-minute spots and the rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience doing a song or tune if they wish.

Everyone is welcome, especially if you'd like to sing or play. Admission is £10.

An Exciting Volunteer Life Coaching opportunity aimed to support young people in the community. Grit, in partnership with Newhaven Foyer, are looking for volunteers to support a young person achieve their goals. At Grit, they believe that when you change your thinking, you can change your world.

If you would like to be a part of this project, you would need to commit to training from 23rd to 25th February, then meeting with a young person fortnightly for 45 minutes, for 9 months.
